S5 GPS

Coming soon, for the summer of 2009, will be Motocaddys S5 GPS and is sure to change the electric golf trolley market. It will certainly raise the bar for other electric golf trolley manufacturers to aim for as this will be the worlds first motorised golf trolley with built in GPS. The S5 GPS offers more gadgets than the S3 digital, which is unbelievable. Keep in mind that it was not that long ago since Motocaddy introduced the S3 Digital and to introduce a new product that blows it out the water is remarkable.

The frame of the S5 GPS will be Motocaddys traditional aerospace grade aluminium S-frame curve, which is light weight (7.9kg) and very sturdy. Just like Motocaddys other models it takes 30 seconds to set up with its single fold action. The S5 GPS is easy to fold down into a compact size and is easy to store away into small spaces and will easily fit into most car boots.

The S5 GPS’s dual handle provides the left or right handed golfer a comfortable grip for easy steering and manoeuvrability of the electric golf trolley. However Motocaddy have introduced a stop-start, hand held remote control. The only down side is that it only controls the speed of the electric golf trolley but doesn’t control the direction. It will still come in handy when wanting to set the trolley off in one direction without having to judge the distance like you have to with the S3 Digital.

The built in GPS is the control centre of all the gadgets that the S5 GPS has. It is Motocaddys Surehot which can be purchased separately but one good advantage of this electric golf trolley is that it is integrated with the golf trolley. The screen on the Sureshot is easy to read with its large, non glare screen so the golfer will have no problem reading the information.

The golfer can record all their stats with the S5 GPS, like greens and fairways in regulation, putts per round, sand saves, up and downs and driving distances. All these stats can be downloaded, onto a computer, so the golfer can notice trends in their golf game, so they can notice their strengths and weaknesses.

The golfer can also download golf courses quickly and easily onto the GPS device so they can get accurate distances to hazards and to the front, middle and back of the green. Downloading information to and from the GPS device (Sureshot) could not be simpler as information is transferred wirelessly from the handheld device. The handheld device plugs into the computer via a USB port and then you simply up load your stats or download software upgrades or golf courses.

The golfer will also find speed, battery life, temperature and time settings on the control panel.

Just like the S3 Digital the S5 GPS is not R & A conforming; however these settings can be temporarily disabled for competitions and the settings changed to competition mode.
