Freeway

The Freeway is the world’s best selling electric golf trolley and that is a fact. If you had the pleasure of owning or using one, you quickly find out very fast that it is very simple and very practical to use and this is why it has this fantastic reputation. The Freeway will set you back anywhere from £350-£400 but if you shop about you should be able to get it for the low end price.

The frame of the golf trolley is very strong, made from AMST alloy and weighs only 8.1kg which makes it very lightweight and easy to transport. You can get the Freeway in either black or silver, either one looks the part so it’s up to the individual which colour suits them best.

Powakaddy have given it a fully foldable design, making it easy to fold and unfold into position. It will take you about 30 seconds to unfold the trolley into position and all that is left to do is attached the 18 or 36 hole battery which is very straight forward. Not only does it take little time to set the trolley up, it is probably easier to unfold the trolley. The Freeway is folded down into a compact size and can be stored away into small spaces and will fit easily into most car boots.

The Freeway trolley handle is pretty basic for an electric golf trolley and can be used by right or left handed golfers. You will find it easy and comfortable to manoeuvre as long as you have your speed settings set right for your own pace.

Choosing which speed you want the trolley to go at is as simple as clicking the button on the handle to your own comfortable pace. At the same location you can stop or start the trolley and the trolley will remember your settings for the next time you switch it back on and will go at the same pace. One feature that is great about the Freeway is that you can set it off in one direction without it being manned. All that is required is you deciding how far you want the trolley to travel in front of you by making a choice of three clicks.

One click of the controls will send the trolley approximately 15 yards in front of you, two clicks about 30 yards and three clicks will be about 45 yards. This is great if you have a flattish terrain and just want to stroll effortlessly down the fairway.

The trolley has sports wheels to make it easier over the toughest of terrains. They are low profile which gives the electric golf trolley great stability. The Freeway has a freewheel option that means you can use the trolley without the need of the battery and just like a conventional push trolley.

Powakaddy has given the Freeway an almost silent drive and gear unit; it is a sealed unit which makes maintenance free. You can hear a slight noise off of the trolley when it is coming to a halt but when you are walking down the fairway you wouldn’t know it was an electric golf trolley.

To power up the Freeway you can choose from a 20AH 18 hole battery or a 33AH 36 hole battery. Each battery comes with its own specially designed charger.

Each battery will do a good job but we would always recommend to go for the 36 hole battery as you can guarantee you will get a better life span from it than you would the 18 hole battery. The 18 hole battery is lighter than the 36 hole battery so if you are looking to keep the weight down and perhaps only play 12 holes a day then the 18 hole will be ideal.
